Holger Rune makes decision on working with Boris Becker in 2024

Holger Rune has decided to continue working with coach Boris Becker in 2024 after a positive few weeks since hiring the German tennis legend. In October, Rune - who was at the time mightily struggling with his poor form and results - added former six-time Grand Slam champion Becker for the remainder of the 2023 season. In his first tournament with Becker sitting in his box, Rune reached the Basel semifinal and won more matches than he had won in the three months prior. After finally getting some momentum and rhythm in Basel, Rune also reached the Paris Masters quarterfinal - where he was beaten by Novak Djokovic in a tight three-setter. With good runs in Basel and Paris, Rune also sealed an ATP Finals ticket, where he failed to make it past the group stage after going 1-2.

Rune's mother and manager announces her son will continue working with Becker

“We look forward to continuing the good work in the preseason and 2024 with our team, with whom we will also end the year. I’m delighted that we have found a good setup where Holger is happy and can develop, so that we can once again set goals and aim to win Grand Slam. It’s been a difficult and educational year with many good experiences, but also disappointments, hardships and new things to deal with… This experience is necessary to be able to take home the big trophies," Rune's mother Aneke wrote to Danish press, via TV2 Sport. Rune maybe didn't manage to reach the knockout stage in Turin but there is no doubt that there have been noticeable signs of improvement in his game since the addition of Becker. Rune didn't manage to accomplish his goal of winning a Grand Slam and reaching the world No 1 ranking this year, but with Becker on board, he will aim to achieve that in 2024.
