Alberto Lledo explains how Carlos Alcaraz lost the Umag final against Jannik Sinner. Before the matches played against Lorenzo Musetti and Sinner, respectively in Hamburg and Umag, Alcaraz had never lost a final in the ATP Tour. The young Spanish tennis player had always been flawless in the five finals previously won, but the two Italian players managed to destabilize him and triumph in three sets. Sinner, in particular, ended up dominating the last two halves and left only two games to his rival. "He started playing better and better and I didn't know how to play against him anymore. He raised the level and I made many mistakes," explained Alcaraz himself at the press conference. He explained: "I don't think Carlos is missing the spark. I think the mental aspect made a difference in the final against Sinner. He played a great first set and started the second in the same way, but wasting six break points in a row hit him. That game was the key to the match. It is true that he has played many games this year, but not many tournaments. Losing a final gives you experience, it is something that is part of the learning process of a boy who is still 19 years old.  We must not forget his age." Alcaraz can still be satisfied with the latest performances in the ATP Tour. Thanks to the two finals reached in Hamburg and Umag, the Spaniard has in fact gained the fourth position in the world ranking; a position that he will try not to lose at least until at the start of the US Open.
