Ex-Wimbledon champion issues massive statement on Novak Djokovic's greatness

Marion Bartoli has issued a massive statement on Novak Djokovic's greatness, saying the Serb is "not only the tennis GOAT" but also "the best sportsman in the world." On Sunday, 36-year-old Djokovic wrote more tennis history by beating Jannik Sinner and becoming the first-ever male player to win seven ATP Finals titles. This year alone, Djokovic set new records for the most Grand Slam titles, the most ATP Finals titles, the most weeks spent at the world No 1 by a man or woman, extended his Year-End No 1 finishes to eight, and also became the oldest Year-End No 1 in tennis history. Djokovic is undoubtedly one of the greatest athletes in sports history and 2013 Wimbledon champion Bartoli thinks the Serb deserves all the possible credit and recognition for his accomplishments. "Djokovic is not only the greatest tennis player of all time but he is also the best sportsman in the world. Novak has broken all the records in this sport and above all this incredible longevity in staying at the top!" Bartoli wrote on X.

Bartoli declares Djokovic ' the best sportsman in the world'

After having one of the most accomplished seasons of his career in 2023, Djokovic warned his rivals that he won't be going anywhere in 2024. "Motivation, especially for the biggest tournaments in sport, is still present. It still inspires me to keep going. People see you performing in the big tournaments, but they don’t see all the weeks and months of dedicated day-to-day, week-to-week work, trying to build your form so that you can peak where you want to peak. For me, obviously those are Grand Slams and World Tour Finals, and next year hopefully also Olympic Games. The mindset is the same. I’ll keep going. I don’t know whether I’m going to have as good of a year next year, but I’m going to keep this freshness of mind and motivation," Djokovic said after winning the ATP Finals.
